Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Perch (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates tryperch.app, a platform that helps Toronto renters create shareable rental profiles. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.

2. Information we collect
Account information: Your email address, used to send you a one-time login code via Supabase Auth.
Profile information: Information you choose to enter when creating your profile, including your name, short bio, self-reported monthly income, employment type, employer name, job title, self-reported credit score range, desired move-in date, number of occupants, and preferences such as pets, smoking, and parking needs.
All profile information is self-reported. We do not independently verify any of it.
Usage data: Basic information about how you interact with the service, including pages visited and actions taken.
Log data: Standard server logs including IP address, browser type, and referring URLs.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and maintain your Perch account and profile.
- Send you a one-time login code when you sign in.
- Display your profile to anyone you share your profile link with.
- Respond to your support requests.
- Improve and operate the platform.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. How we share your information
Your profile link: When you share your Perch link, anyone with that link can view the information on your profile. You control what information you include and who you share the link with.
Service providers: We use Supabase to store your data and handle authentication, and Resend to send transactional emails. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
Legal requirements: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request account deletion at any time by emailing hello@tryperch.app. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including TLS encryption in transit and secure hosting through Supabase. That said, no method of internet transmission is completely secure.
7. Your rights
You may request to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information in your profile (you can do this yourself from your dashboard).
- Delete your account and associated data.

8. Cookies
Perch uses session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Disabling cookies may prevent login from working correctly.
9. Children's privacy
Perch is not intended for anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at hello@tryperch.app and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of Perch after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
